By Robert Niles: A 5.4-magnitude earthquake (http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/ci14383980.htm) just hit Southern California. A moderate quake; with no reports of major damage so far. But everyone felt it. (The U.S. Geological Survey is collecting public reports (http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/STORE/X14383980/ciim_display.html).)
I felt and heard a sharp jolt here in Pasadena, followed by a smaller jolt and some shaking -- about 10 seconds total. I assume that folks at the area theme parks felt it, too. Check in the comments for reports.
*Updated: The USGS is now calling it a 5.4, not a 5.8, as originally reported.
Update 2: There's a great question on the discussion board about how to protect yourself at a theme park during a earthquake (http://www.themeparkinsider.com/news/response.cfm?ID=4486).
