By Robert Niles: Splash Battles appear to be the hot new water ride model making its way into theme parks across the country.
Legoland California debuted its version two years ago, with Dollywood adding River Battle this spring. And next season, Six Flags Great America, north of Chicago, will join the trend, opening Buccaneer Battle (http://www.themeparkinsider.com/reviews/six_flags_great_america/buccaneer_battle/) on the old Deja Vu site.
Buccaneer Battle, like similar rides, put riders in boats armed with water cannons, which riders can aim at targets throughout the ride, as well as at riders on other boats.
