Airfare would depend on where you are departing from. Hotels can be expensive, but depending on the time of year (fall/winter is cheaper), you can find decent two-star hotels for about 100-150 euros a night. The cost of food would vary greatly; you could buy food in a market and picnic, or eat in an elegant restaurant for hundreds of euros. Generally though, there are many restaurants and cafe which offer a "prix fixe" menu where you can have a three-course meal with limited selections for 20-50 euros for dinner. If you do your homework before you go, you can visit Paris on a more limited budget.

Unlike NY or London, Paris has some nice cheap hotels, in many different neighborhoods. One in particular near the Etoile Station (you can walk to the Eiffel tower, Champs Elysee, etc.) is the Hotel Florida. Just look for the number of stars each hotel has. 2 stars will run you about $70 per night for a single.A "carnet" or a book of 10 Metro tickets is about $12. You can buy a discount pass for museums at the Metro station as well, which also allows you to skip the ticket lines at each museum, which can be immense.Continental breakfast in a cafe is about $10 at a table (less standing at the bar)Dinner can be had for $25-$35. Order the "menu" which is cheaper than a la carte.Remember, tips are already included, but you can leave a little something extra if they were nice.
