So I am going on a cruise which stops first at grand Bahama island, then Nassau, then great stirrup cay....i wanted to try the horseback riding at grand Bahama, apparently you go through the water and stuff, which is a dream but... I have only been on a horse once or twicei am not scared of the horse, i am scared of being sore after for the rest of my trip. i have heard that horseback riding can make you sore , and i dont want to be sore the rest of my vaca. reviews seem good online, any advice though?

My son is a tour guide for horse back riding and he said, the main thing is to wear comfortable pants(no shorts) and good shoes. Tennis shoes are fine. Then before riding, do some leg squats, ride a bike if you can, and some leg lifts too. Swimming is great too. To prevent chaffing, put on some powder on your inner thighs before you ride . Baby powder is fine. I only ride once or twice a year and I'm near 60 years old, but because I bike ride every day that I can, I never get sore when riding a horse. BTW, that would be a great tour to go on.

If your in decent shape, you should be fine. But if your still worried, try to go on the last port day, that way if you were to be sore, there wouldnt be alot of the cruise left.

You'll be fine! Those horses are so well-trained that you don't do anything but sit and enjoy. Wear trousers rather than shorts, and shoes such as sneakers, not flipflops. Your clothes will get wet, so consider that when you choose what to wear, and don't forget a hat -- that sun can be fierce! And have fun!
