Going on my first overseas vacation and I need some advice.?

I'm in the process of getting the finances for my first overseas vacation. It's a study abrod program about sustainable energy and its taking place in Denmark. The trip isn't until the 31st of May but I thought I'd start planning for it now. I'm pretty sure that I'll find enough money to pay for my trip. The program is a total of 16 days and we will be set up with host families to stay with until the two weeks is up. Does anyone have some advice on what I should take with me?

I received overseas students and some of the things that they brought were hostess gifts of specific stuff from their country of origin. Our Tajik friend brough pottery and fabric things and our Peruvian students brought llama skin things and other leather goods from Peru.The month of May in Denmark should not be too hot or cold. Look online for weather so you can take the right clothes.Passports and vaccinations are needed maybeIf you forget something - say socks - Denmark has shops and anything you need will be available. If you travel with less luggage you will have less to lug around. If you need meds for health, make sure you have enough to last.Other than that, it is wonderful to travel and I offer you my congrats.

If it's a study vacation, then I suggest you bring your laptop with you.

Bring a small gift for your host family - something local and unique to your area if you can. Bring enough underwear and socks to get through the 16 days if you can - that way you won't have to worry as much about laundry. Bring your own toiletries using small containers with just what you think is enough for the 16 days. Make sure you have a good book for quiet times. A light raincoat might be a good idea. someone i know went to japan for a summer and he got this advice:pack all the clothes you think you will need and collect all the money you'll think you'll needthen cut the clothes in half and double the money.

Bring alot of stuff made in america, and soveniery (europeans love this stuff)- also bring marshmellows and peanut butter- they don't have it there. You may also want to bring a bottle of water too. I'm not sure about Denmark, but alot of Europeans drink mostly mineral water, and flying often dehydrates people- and the worst feeling in the world is getting off that plane dehydrated with jet lag, and forced to experience mineral water for the first time.One more thing, if you really want to have local currency before you get there, only excange a little bit- they will always give you a bad exchange rate outside of the country or in the airports. Wait till you are there and have a local show you were to exchange you're main sum.
