My husband and I want to plan a trip to Europe. We'd like to spend 10 days there, travelling to several countries/cities. We're 27, love to be outdoors and like to go out at night. What would you say are the top 5 "must see" places? When is the best time of year to go?

whatever you do, stay away from Venice. my dad's been there a couple of times and he didn't have enough bad stuff to say about it. he said gondola rides are like canoeing through your own sewage and everyone tries to rip you off.i think Vienna's really bad too. try london, paris, hamburg, berlin, canterbury(really cute place in England), liverpool, cairo (if you want to be adventurous), or perhaps tuscany.

Well depends what you want, traveling through Europe and actually managing to see stuff in ten days... uh uh, isn't going to happen but if you really want my suggestions are:Eastern Europe: - Athens- Belgrade- Budapest- Prague- Moscow Western Europe: - Paris- London- Mardid- Rome- ViennaI only suggested a couple of capitol cities, I mean ten days is not enough I'll tell you right off the bat.

Hallo there,I travel to Europe all the time..I recommend you land where you want in Europe and there in what ever country it is find the Euro rail...Its 150 euros i think this is a fast train and will take you all over Europe, you can spend a day or over night where you want and get on Euro rail again and go somewhere else..Its easy and nice...It is very inexpensive to go to Europe,it costs me no more then 400.00 round trip to go there..I have friends there so it really doesn't cost much for me to be there as they share their flat,so no hotel fees...Have fun and enjoy..;-)

I also recommend Interrail or Eurorail, you just buy a ticket and can go literally anywhere. Ten days are not much, but if u are in Western Europe: London, Paris, Berlin, Strassbourg are nice, in Central Europe: Budapest, Prague, Vienna. I suggest you do not go to more than 3 cities otherwise it is gonna be a rush... :-) so take your time, and3 days per city

Rather than suggesting exact possibilities, here are some tools to plan the trip.1. Start at RickSteves.com. Steves is a guru on European travel and he has plenty of itineraries to choose from. Just click the "Plan your trip" link and choose away.2. In order to fly into Europe, use sidestep.com, which scours all of the major sites (Expedia, Travelocity, etc) for best airfares. Fly in open-jaw, meaning fly into one city and leave from another. This way you don't have to backtrack.3. To get around Europe, use either low cost air carriers or trains. Low cost air carriers are killing each other in Europe now days, with fares as low as 1 dollar (use 30 bucks in taxes) on some flights. Ryanair.com is the biggest, but there are others.Trains and train passes are great. They can only be bought state-side, so get one in advance. http://www.eurail.com/ is a good site.4. Finally hotels...use www.cheapohotels.com. Better than Expedia or any other site for Europe (charges the hotels less for its service and gets better prices this way). I recently spent three weeks lugging through Europe and never had a problem with a reservation. So here it is...good luck!

"Love to be outdoors and go out at night" -- that's a tough combination. If you've never been there and you want to see the two most beautiful places hands down go to Paris and then Italy. Both require a certain mindset (like, be prepared to for waves of pickpockets in Paris, plus i Italy brace yourself for exuberant chaos). Venice is my favorite Italian city but if you don't have a good guide (I suggest ricksteves.com and rick's books) you might not appreciate it fully. Rome and Florence are also musts. Don't foget to try the espresso. If you like the outdoors then you should go to Norway -- but don't stay in Oslo, take the train ride from there to Bergen. It's an eye-popping seven hour trip that takes you through verdant forests, lakes, up a mountain, through icy barren terrain then down to spectacular fjords. Bergen itself is rainy but it doesn't get any more outdoors than this. Be prepared to spend, because Norway is horribly expensive. Are you planning to travel around by plane, rail, car or bus?

I attach a link on yahoo that lists all the countries in Europe, then you can click on them and read about each one. How handy is that?http://uk.holidaysguide.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-7455-europe_travel_guide-i

If you are to visit three cities visit London, Paris, and Riga. London has so much to do for any one and so does Paris. I have been to Riga which is in Latvia and it is really cheap and really nice. You can get a hotel room on the Daugava River for only 80 buck a night. There also is a lot to eat here from ethenic foods to American food.
