We are trying to decide which cruise line to go with. We are a couple around 40 years of age with no kids. My aunt and uncle - like us in that they never had kids and they like solitude- have gone on Disney twice and they liked it. My thinking is that as far as children's activities on Disney they run a tighter ship (no pun intended) than Carnival in that kids are supervised very closely. Windstar is also a consideration, but at $3000 a person may be out of our price range.Between Disney and Norwegian, which would you choose -- and why? I would also be interested in hearing from those who have cruised Windstar as well.

I wouldn't recommend either of those for someone in your situation, although if you can afford Disney and can tolerate that ambiance, they are supposed to be a very good cruise experience. As long as you don't go during a holiday time or summer, it probably won't be totally overrun with kids.Norwegian is not known for high quality in either food or service, although they certainly have their fans. You might want to check out Celebrity [especially the new Solstice and Equinox] or even Holland America. Both are quieter, classier lines with better-quality food and service and fewer kids/families [especially HAL].You might go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Reviews" and read past passenger reviews ["Member Reviews"]. If you click on "Cruise Styles", you'll find discussions of the different cruise lines and ships and the passenger demographic they appeal to. "Boards" has discussion boards on all aspects of cruising.

Just got off a Carnival cruise and it was filled with kids. If you go during the school year there will be less kids, if you go when they are on holiday, there will be more kids. On my trip, there were 800 kids on the ship and many were unsupervised and very annoying, my next trip will be during the school year and not in the summer time or around Easter or Christmas holidays. I think the time of year has more to do with the number of kids than the cruise line.
