View Full Version : Any good cheap hotels in East Europe?
We will be travelling by car in Hungary, Czeck Republ, and Austria. Can you recommend small hotels, pensions, or apartments for mainly 1 or 2 night use as we drive? Are there 'pension' chains or associations that can help book accommodations as we progress thru these countries? Any places to avoid?Thank you.

I would have looked this up, but I just saw the movie Hostel, and eastern Europe scares me now.

You must have a international driving permit. Keep your hand on your wallet in tourist type areas, charles bridge and the metro.

Try another accommodation if you want only sleep by night (wash and bath of course): camping sites. Is cheaper and is very cozy. And you don't need reservation, even you reach them at midnight.I tried this type of accommodation (tent and car) last year and this year I will do the same. I was very satisfied. Especially one camping in Hungary, at the border with Slovakia, on the Danube river. It was spectacular. Also in Austria I have some addresses for camping where I stayed last year and I will return this summer, passing through Austria to Germany. If you are interested in detailing this subject you can write me at ducesica2004@yahoo.com.I can send you photo if you are interested.
