We'll arrive via train at the Nord station, and we want to be near the Louvre and other attractions, walking distance from the Metro. We are active senior-citizens, and wouldn't consider a hostel.

I like the Hotel General - it is pretty trendy, and the price is great (approx. 150 Euros per night, which is excellent for central Paris). It is walking distance from the Metro République, which has a lot of connections so is really handy. Also, it is air-conditioned, which is a MUST in the summertime, as Paris is often too loud to keep windows open.

Try Hotel du Globe, it is walking distance from the Opera Metro station, and is reasonably priced. Excelent croissant shop next door. Opera on the same line as Gare du Nord, so no Metro Changes Nessesary.Walking distance from the Louvre and Notre Dame, take the metro anywhere else.

My husband and I went to Paris last summer and payed approx. 140. U.S. dollars for a really pleasant room within view of the Eiffel Tower. This was a good deal and nice location. It was a Best Western at Cite De L'Alma. It is located in an older building as many of the hotels are. Be aware that the rooms in Paris are generally quite small. Price of course will fluctuate with the time of year. We are going back in March and are renting an apartment this time! Since there are six going we found it would be much cheaper. Have a great time!
